Hematopoietic Progenitor Cell Assays

The CFC assay was performed by culturing BM-MNCs in MethoCult GF M3434 methylcellulose medium (Stem Cell Technologies, Vancouver, BC). Colonies of CFU–granulocyte macrophage (GM) and burst-forming unit–erythroid (BFU-E) were scored on day 7, and colonies of CFU-granulocyte, -erythrocyte, -monocyte, and -megakaryocyte (GEMM) on day 12 of the incubation, according to the manufacturer’s protocol.
