Serum Biomarker Measurement Protocol

Participants were asked to fast overnight before the blood draw. Serum folate concentration (ng/mL) was measured by the Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immunoassay (CIMA) method using Architect i4000SR (Abbott, Chicago, IL, USA). Serum TC (mg/dL) and TG (mg/dL) levels were determined by the enzymatic methods using the Hitachi Automatic Analyzer 7600-210 (Hitachi, Tokyo, Japan). The homogeneous enzymatic colorimetric method was used to assess the serum HDL-cholesterol level (mg/dL).
