Two types of IMRT plans were generated for each patient. The first was generated using the Pinnacle3 planning system (Philips Healthcare; Fitchburg, WI, USA). The second was generated using our linear programming (LP)-based approach.[25 (link)] Although IMRT plans were also generated using the Eclipse planning system (Varian Medical Systems; Palo Alto, CA, USA), both planning systems resulted in comparable IMRT plans. We describe the planning specifics and results for only the Pinnacle3 planning system in this report.
