FTIR Analysis of Keratin Functional Groups

The presence of characteristic functional groups in the untreated and hydrolyzed feathers was ascertained by FTIR analysis^{33 (link)}. The changes occurring in the functional groups of the keratin were observed in the feather samples. The FTIR spectra was obtained using an ALPHA II spectrometer, (Bruker) in the spectrum range 4000–500 cm⁻¹ with 40 scans at a resolution of 4 cm⁻¹.
