Culturing Aag2 and S2 Cells

Aag2 and S2 cells were a kind gift from Raul Andino (University of California, San Francisco, USA) and were maintained at 28°C in a humidified atmosphere without CO₂ as previously described [27 (link)]. Culture medium was Leibovitz’s L-15 (Sigma-Aldrich, St. Louis, MO USA) supplemented with 10% (v/v) tryptose phosphate broth (Sigma-Aldrich), 10% (v/v) USA-origin foetal bovine serum (FBS), 2 mM L-glutamine, 0.1 mM non-essential amino acids, and 100 U/ml penicillin/100 μg/ml streptomycin (all ThermoFisher Scientific, Waltham, MA USA).
