The assay was performed using susceptibility test disks (Oxoid), according to 2010 CLSI guidelines. Bacteria cultured in ampicillin (0.625 μg/ml) at 37°C for 16 hours were adjusted to a 0.5 McFarland standard. These bacteria were uniformly inoculated with Mueller-Hinton agar, and then, a 30-μg cefoxitin disk was placed at the center of the disk. After overnight incubation at 37°C, zone of inhibition was detected. Zone of inhibition 18 was defined as a positive threshold. Klebsiella pneumoniae ATCC700603 and Enterobacter cloacae ATCC13047 were used as negative and positive controls, respectively.
