Blood from patients with HNSCC included in the clinical trial was collected. PBMC were purified by Ficoll-Paque PLUS centrifugation (Amersham Biosciences) and used fresh for cell isolation and ELISpot assay or stored frozen. CD14+ monocytes, NK cells, and CD8+ T cells were purified using EasySep kits (Stem cell technologies) and purity was more than 95% (Lopez-Albaitero et al., 2009a (link)).
